-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 It should come as no surprise that dissent is playing a prominent role in the HOPE X conference. So many technological developments of late involve standing up to authority and questioning the status quo. Whether it's using social media to organize people into doing something worthwhile, exposing security holes in the face of threats and lawsuits, becoming a whistleblower by using the information and technology we have access to, or just getting the word out about the latest laws, restrictions, and threats to our freedom and privacy, a lot of what we talk about constitutes one form or another of dissent. And it feels pretty good and healthy to speak out and share knowledge.
Our new dissent-themed HOPE X website has just gone live and it's worth exploring, even if you have absolutely no intention of coming to HOPE X this summer. But if you are planning on joining us, the site should answer all of your questions. If it doesn't, let us know. Along with our theme, we'll be hosting a keynote by Daniel Ellsberg, the legendary "Pentagon Papers" whistleblower. We have many more talks that we?ll be announcing soon, and the window for speaker submissions ends on April 30. HOPE X will be taking place at the Hotel Pennsylvania in New York City from July 18 to July 20, 2014. http://x.hope.net http://xxx.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.xxx HOPE X Press Team [email protected] -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG/MacGPG2 v2.0.22 (Darwin) Comment: GPGTools - http://gpgtools.org Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://www.enigmail.net/ iQEcBAEBAgAGBQJTWD+zAAoJEOrRfDwkjbpT4QgH/3CAEojb67f/I5Sw2WrZZibJ 6iSf2VuUEs64Tml7cohs4lzlOkS55LySb9Uigk7VfBYlS+6V8SX+UQnWuvYdxaVk zD3odCcDP8HbmApeBRPmcy2bUMdKHq+vfgJsCZ1jWU21tVExZMUObM871BTc1shw ntiaWyNS0CfzxRlqPUzGgIWLYgstTrd4wgBqo0WcjS1vnVikZV2IDsGWyrbLh9z0 q8VJITHRbwmlPcuZR9D64fBajOJN1T7MOXyE6SD6k3MDC+lBcrtllwwLiuJ39IUD cZjLtxViG3hqDeW61QG0NuiM8TQ0s9ROT+GM8zQOMqX8DmD4cKQmuBjiKriyCAU= =b9Hz -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- Liberationtech is public & archives are searchable on Google.
