Well, going public about it is important still:

If the adversary looses one exploit each times he attacks someone, then:
* He lost the exploit(which also costs about 100000$ to 400000$).
* He get caught and can be attacked in a court of law.
=> At the end attacking becomes way more risky, and some adversary do
evaluate the risk before attacking, which at the end protects people.
