Quoting Yosem Companys <[email protected]>:
One of the earliest books to explore this phenomenon is Steve Barley
and Gideon Kunda's "Gurus, Hired Guns, and Warm Bodies: Itinerant
Experts in a Knowledge Economy." If you're interested in the topic,
you may want to check it out:

Thank you for the reference and I will be sure to check it out.
My apologies for not acknowleding the fact that it was you who posted
professor roclin's blog entry and not him.
I was so incensed after I read what he had written, cuz he touched a
hot button issue for me, that I finally got my nerve up to fire off a
reply -- BTW, it is my first time posting to a listserv in 15 years or
more and I didn't notice the email address of the sender until I was
closing down the window that I used to read your email. In future, i
will pay closer attention.
Again thanks, and I want you to know that I appreciate all the effort
you, and the other regular posters, put into making liberation tech
such a valuable resource. I am sure there are lots of lurkers like me
that cling to your every word and use what we learn and discover to
shape our respective areas of interest.
