I’m a reporter for Pando Daily covering <http://pando.com/author/ylevine/>
Silicon Valley’s surveillance business (and culture). I don’t contribute to the
list, but I do follow it. And I just launched a book project that intersects
with many of the issues discussed here.

The book’s called “Surveillance Valley: The Rise of the Google-Military
Complex.”

It’s an investigation into SV's for-profit surveillance business, its deep ties
to the military-industrial complex and the increasing ways all this spy tech is
being used to control our lives. One of the big overarching questions the book
will tackle: How did the Internet go from being a tool of liberation to one of
total surveillance — spawning global corporations, concentrating wealth and
power and expanding the reach of the U.S. National Security State?

PS: The book will feature new reporting, but I hope to also incorporate and
extend the vital work of many of the scholars here. So I thank you in advance!
