Happy Holidays! As 2015 comes to an end, we wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for supporting Code for Nepal, update you on our work over the past year, and *seek end-of-year donations <http://codefornepal.us8.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=f61f02e8804f8f0251481b50c&id=a6662df343&e=d91ab06f73>* to continue our work. Since launching in 2014, Code for Nepal has grown rapidly in size and in the diversity of services we offer to increase digital literacy and the use of open data in Nepal. In 2015, we undertook the following new initiatives: 1. *Earthquake Relief: *Following the April 2015 earthquake in Nepal, we deployed low-tech digital solutions to connect volunteers and earthquake survivors to help in the immediate relief efforts. We were the first ones to build an interactive map <http://codefornepal.us8.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=f61f02e8804f8f0251481b50c&id=e94b8832a6&e=d91ab06f73> to show district-level earthquake damage in the country. Our work was featured in numerous media outlets including the *New York Times <http://codefornepal.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=f61f02e8804f8f0251481b50c&id=2d1d18fed8&e=d91ab06f73>* . 2. *Aid Accountability: *In the months following the earthquake, we launched Rahat Payo <http://codefornepal.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=f61f02e8804f8f0251481b50c&id=44702f8ea2&e=d91ab06f73> (“Did you get relief?”) to ensure that aid reaches those in need in an equitable and efficient manner. For the Rahat Payo pilot, we surveyed over 700 earthquake survivors <http://codefornepal.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=f61f02e8804f8f0251481b50c&id=7ff3e8e774&e=d91ab06f73> in five districts and published our initial findings in a National newspaper <http://codefornepal.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=f61f02e8804f8f0251481b50c&id=189628789d&e=d91ab06f73> of Nepal. We’ll continue to roll out Rahat Payo <http://codefornepal.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=f61f02e8804f8f0251481b50c&id=cefb491dde&e=d91ab06f73> in 2016. 3. *New Digital Fellowship: *Building on our success with a women’s digital empowerment training <http://codefornepal.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=f61f02e8804f8f0251481b50c&id=c10d468733&e=d91ab06f73> in 2014, we are partnering with a local organization in Nepal to pilot a digital fellowship in rural parts of the country to help young students become digitally literate and provide new graduates with job opportunities. 4. *Access to Information:* In partnership with MySociety, we launched *Asknepal.info <http://codefornepal.us8.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=f61f02e8804f8f0251481b50c&id=121072ff35&e=d91ab06f73> *to increase the public’s access to information. To help citizens and authorities alike, we launched a user-friendly platform where questions can be drafted and sent to the relevant public authority in Nepal. 5. *Open Data: *We have analyzed and published 20 data-based stories in Nepal <http://codefornepal.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=f61f02e8804f8f0251481b50c&id=bcfa80ba4b&e=d91ab06f73>. We have worked with journalists and media outlets to publish interactive maps and stories <http://codefornepal.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=f61f02e8804f8f0251481b50c&id=9f832dacd3&e=d91ab06f73>, most recently on Rahat Payo.
