Dear Liberation Tech Colleagues, Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) and Tech Networks of Boston (TNB) are pleased to invite you to a panel discussion about the future of nonprofit data analysis as a profession in Massachusetts. As demand grows for nonprofit data analysts, we hope that institutions of higher education, nonprofit technology assistance providers, and nonprofit organizations can work together to create career ladders for those who want to meet this need.
These are our goals for the July 20th discussion: 1) Showcase BHCC's current certificate and associate's degree programs in data services and database programming. 2) Showcase TNBL's plans to expand its workforce development initiative to offer on the job training and entry level job placement in nonprofit data analysis. 3) Advance a serious conversation with nonprofit professionals about what kinds of coursework and on the job training will lead to successful careers for data analysts that want to serve nonprofits in Massachusetts. 4) Brainstorm about the long term role of data management and data analysis in the nonprofit sector. The panel discussion will be led by Michael Harris (BHCC faculty member, and creator of the Data Management Certificate program) and Jefferson Fernandes (BHCC Computer Information Technology faculty chair). This session is ideal for grant makers, workforce development experts, college and university faculty, and decision-makers at nonprofit organizations. Participation in this session is free of charge. However, you must have a confirmed reservation in order to attend. If this session is booked to capacity by the time you seek to register for it, please go ahead and put yourself on the waiting list. We hope that you can join us for a vigorous and informative conversation, in which you will be welcome to share your knowledge, experience, questions, and concerns with your peers.
