Conservatives are so funny. They bitch about children being born out of wedlock and they bitch about abortion. They girl got knocked up. If she had gone for an abortion, probably the Nebraska AG would have bitched about it. The guy decided to marry her so the child is not born out of wedlock (the "right thing" as seen in the old days), and the Nebraska AG is also bitching about it.
So, what gives? The girl's pregs and there's nothing anyone can do about it. They're following a course that is legal in Kansas but it doesn't matter because the idea is "repugnant" to some guy with a bit of power in a neighboring state. If theyjail the husband, what the hell is she going to do? Can her parents support her while her husband's in jail? I think this is a case of common sense not a matter of following the process blindly. In this case, I think allowing them to get married is the lesser evil. I think laws should be about common sense--that's why our system is based on precedent as opposed to on strict codes and procedures, like in most places around the world. I don't see it here.
