More than 1,700 American soldiers have died in Iraq; 15,000 are wounded. Iraqi deaths are estimated in the tens of thousands, perhaps in excess of 100,000. More than $350 billion has been spent making war on Iraq and Afghanistan. The war is a quagmire with no end in sight. Many Americans now agree that these wars should never have started. Alabama will be saying: STOP THE WAR ON IRAQ! at the Statewide Peace Rally, September 24, 2005, 2 - 5 PM, at Kelly Ingram Park, Birmingham. Additionally, we are excited to announce that Lew Rockwell (www.lewrockwell.com <http://www.lewrockwell.com/> and www.mises.org <http://www.mises.org/> ) of the von Mises Institute has just been added to the speaker line up. The Libertarian Party of Alabama and Auburn University Libertarians are helping to sponsor the event, and will have tables at the rally. As a libertarian, your attendance at the Statewide Peace Rally is doubly important. By adding your voice to thousands of others, the amplitude of our common message will be heard by a greater crowd. Also, by working at one of our tables, you will have the additional opportunity to help spread the libertarian message of peace and liberty to countless others. Not only do we need your help, but America needs your help, and most importantly, those in Iraq facing death on a daily basis need it even more. The details follow: Who will rally? Everyone is invited - workers, students, families, soldiers, veterans, politicians, religious groups, etc. The larger the crowd, the clearer our message is to our fellow Alabamians, to Washington DC, and to the millions of people around the world who endure the effects of our government's policies.
