Ah, but, in the current political climate, will campaigning on a platform of eliminating federal spending on education help you or prevent you from having a chance to limit increases in such expenditures to 3%? Having them increase by "only" 3% is still better than having them increase by 10% or 5%, and it may be the best you can do. And nothing would stop you, once in office, from proposing that they be cut by 50% or 90% or 100%... except that the other kids would get all angry and wouldn't want to play log-rolling games with you. We need to keep our eyes aimed at reduction of initiated force and fraud, while working to reach those lesser mile-stones, and keeping in mind that it requires electing candidates to progress at all and what is necessary to get candidates elected. I don't know of any libertarians who realized, early on, just what it takes to get libertarians elected. But we have, from time to time, managed to nudge the debate. ------------------------ Yahoo!
