On 7 October 2003, two armed non-cops intruded into the second home of U.S. Senator Judd Gregg (R-NH) in McLean, Virginia, pulled guns, tied up Mrs. Gregg, forced her into their car against her will, drove her to the bank to withdraw money, but they split when they realized she found safe refuge in the bank and wasn't scared enough to keep her promise to emerge and give them cash ransom.
When cops pull stunts like that, they don't usually tie up the hostages, they handcuff them, and they usually let the hostages make one phone call to ask somebody to bring ransom money. http://www.eagletribune.com/news/stories/20031008/NH_006.htm The headline says "D.C." even though it really happened in Virginia. Now, if we could put a gun in the hands of Kathy Gregg, of course she would have been perfectly justified shooting them both dead. If she had killed one and the other killed her, then the killer would not have the excuse of self-defense. "Look, I was defending myself. She pulled a gun on us and she MURDERED my partner." That's the way it happened a few weeks earlier in Greene County, Virginia. Two cops were in a house to arrest a cocaine dealer for proudly serving local residents of the community and furnishing them with the recreational drug they wanted. The cocaine dealer was peacefully minding his own business, violating nobody's rights. He was able to get a gun and kill one of the cops, only to be murdered in cold blood by the other. http://www.greene-news.com/2004/jan/8/YIR3.shtml The cocaine dealer, of course, was absolutely justified. It makes no difference whether the cops were federal, state, or local, since the cocaine dealer never authorized any of those governments to impose drug laws on him or his customers. The Commonwealth of Virginia cannot delegate to the federal government any authority the commonwealth does not have. Now, if you see a person being forced into a car against their will, you have every right to kill the forcer UNLESS the forcer has authority to use such force. Since the government has no right to impose a curfew on children, even if the state constitution says it does, even if the United States Constitution says it does, you are of course justified in shooting the cops dead if they try to enforce it. If city council didn't want the cops to die, they should have thought of that before they enacted a curfew they knew, or should have known, they lacked real authority to impose. It is, of course, entirely possible that the victim would plead with the Freedom Fighters not to harm the poor, defenseless cops. If you see the cops trying the force children into a car for curfew violation, your right to stop the initiated force by counterforce does not depend on the location of the room where you customarily exercise your right to sleep. The fact that the Texarkana, Arkansas Police are abducting a person and you are a resident and citizen of Texarkana, Texas is wholly irrelevant. You have every right to run across State Line Avenue and shoot the cops dead to rescue the hostage. The fact that the cops in Beebe Plain, Vermont are abducting a person and you are a resident of Beebe Plain, Quebec, a citizen of Canada, is wholly irrelevant. You have every right to run across Canusa Avenue to shoot the cops dead and rescue the hostage. The fact that the cops in Beebe Plain, Quebec are abducting a person and you are a resident of Beebe Plain, Vermont, a citizen of Vermont and the Unted States, is wholly irrelevant. You have every right to run across Canusa Avenue to shoot the cops dead and rescue the hostage. The federal government is not chartered to be the world's policeman and the U.S. Constitution only allows States to wage war when actually invaded, or in such imminent danger as will not admit of delay. It is not that we, as a country lack authority to stop the initiation of force by other governments, but rather, that we did not charter any institution to do so. We stil have every right to organize armies to fight back against any government, foreign or domestic, which violates the rights of one person. In practice, an army cannot be organized to fight back against the current governments here in the USA, so Operation USA Freedom will mostly take the form of individual Freedom Fighters taking surprise actions such as the Freedom Fighter who so proudly distinguished himself in the Battle of Red Bluff on 19 November 2002. The enemy did not anticipate the attack and cannot protect themselves against such attacks, because there are so many ways to attack and the Freedom Fighter's mission of taking out just one enemy officer is easily accomplished.
