Every where I go I'm telling people about the
Libertarian Party and recommending http://www.LP.org
to them. I suggest that they educate themselves
regarding the best alternative to the Republicans and
the Democrats.
I decided to join any Yahoo groups I could find that
may assist me in developing relationships with other
Libertarians. I figured that, since I'm a new
Libertarian myself, it would be wise to associate with
others in order to learn more.
Instead I joined this group and the first thing I see
is an on-going debate that seems more like the general
"mud-slinging" and name-calling we're accustomed to
witnessing from the Republicans and Democrats than the
open-minded exchange of ideas and opinions I expected
from people who truly value liberty.
If others who are new to Libertarianism join this
group and observe the same they may be likely to
assume that there's nothing new here and there's no
reason for them to vote any differently from how
they've previously voted.
If, in the course of topical discussion, we do not
demonstrate a more refined sense of maturity and
respect than the CFR-owned Parties we're not likely to
appeal to and draw into the effort the
"disenfranchised voters" that we know are seeking and
praying for options.
We must set the example that "Liberty works" without
fostering the appearance of chaos. Otherwise our
ideals and values will not stand out against the
backdrop of the hypocrites on "both sides of the
aisle" who currently run the show.
