I don't know why libertarian-like anarchists continue to try to
argue down "archist-libertarians". If the gov were reduced back
to constitutional size, it would be so small and impotent it
would be virtually invisible to most people on a day-to-day basis
and would be almost indistinguishable from libertarian-like
anarchy. I think a lot of these anarchists over-estimate of the
size of a constitutional gov. IMO, there would be very little
practical difference between a constitutional gov and no gov.

Now allow me some rare optimism.

I predict a constitutional gov ("libertarian minarchy" [virtual
anarchy]) will be possible and sustainable in the future
(relatively near?) through the continued development of
technology, especially information technology. Look how
technology has already improved the quality of life, and look
what's happening right here. In fact, one of the main lessons of
the internet seems to be the exposure of the real face of gov
(and religion). I feel that once a certain threshold of the
population gets online and learns these basics of freedom and
oppression, good changes will accelerate. CNN just reported a
poll that showed 49% of people believe that virtually all
congressmen are corrupt. The more amazing thing is that the
reporter read some of the "believers'" opinions on air. Wow! And
they were every bit as angry as stuff posted here. To me, that's
very encouraging.

And that's not to mention the greatly-underestimated power that
advanced video-cell-phone technology will give to the people. One
thing that is almost always underestimated is the beneficial
impact of new technology.

  _____

      Nature abhors a vacuum.
Something always rushes in to take it's place.
History shows us that the customary successor to anarchy is
totalitarianism.
The weaker must be protected from the stronger.
"Might makes right" is the law of the jungle.
Civilized nations strive to create an environment where "right
makes might."
If the law of the jungle prevails, then the biggest criminal will
be in charge.
Rule by the biggest criminal, and totalitarianism, are exactly
the same thing.
This is WHY "NO GOVERNMENT" LEADS IMMEDIATELY TO "TOTAL
GOVERNMENT".
