  PBS Frontline: the Persuaders
Explores how marketers try to sell products---and political candidates---in an
increasingly cluttered advertising landscape, using increasingly "spiritual"
and "big concept" approaches. Assessing what it all means is CBS and NPR media
watcher Douglas Rushkoff, who wades through a thicket of psychobabble and
manages to make sense of most of it. As for conclusions, however, all he can do
is quote an industry aphorism: "I know I'm wasting half my ad dollars. I just
don't know which half." (2004)

  USA Presidential Address.2005.12.18
George Bush makes a well presented and seemingly compelling case to America,
justifying his policy of military intervention and occupation of Islamic lands,
while also apparently reaching out to his critics. However, content is flawed
by ignoring US provocations like CIA overthrow in 1953 of existing Iran
democracy on behalf of some oil interests, US taxpayer subsidies to various
'client' states, some of which are regarded as arbitrary and obnoxious
creations (like Saudie Arabia & Israel for example) There was also distortion
in representing his entire opposition as 'isolationists' who all want to
'ignore' Islamics. That overlooks much of the govt intervention opposition's
call for 'constructive engagement' with the people of Islamic lands through
free trade and its inevitible cultural exchange; as advocated, for example, at
