I disagree. Most people have a job or a business or other obligations
and thus are not going to attend a convention because they can't get
the time off from their job or do not believe they can afford the time
away from the business during the time the convention is held. Ther
maybe situations in which one was planning to go to the convention but
instead attended a family members wedding that took place during the
convention or a family member's funeral etc... There are a number of
reasons why many party members do not attend a convention. Some
members simply can not afford the travel expense and hotel expense.
The convention this year is in OR which is way the hell on the other
side of country from FL where I am. That is a long distance to travel
by car or bus and the airfare is more than many other parts of the
country from the southeast region of the country. If I wanted to go to
the convention I could afford it but I have other priorities I'd
rather spend that much money on. I suggest that you check your
premise. Party members imo should be able to vote for officers and
issues voted on at the convention by proxy if they are not able to
attend. Most of us are not independently wealthy and can go anywhere
we want to whenever we want to.
