The point is the level of mocking.  

One could argue that a Muhammed with a bomb in his turban is far, 
far, far less offensive than a cartoon depicting a pointy-bearded 
old Jew, with a Swastika on his sleeve and blood dripping from his 
mouth, eating little Arab babies, which ran in the Egyptian press.
