Actually, the United State, along with its Kurdish allies, was
sheltering Al Answar[sic] in the illegal northern "no-fly zone" - a
part of Iraq over which Saddam was forbidden to operate militarily.

As far as Zarqawi, there is no evidence that he was affiliated with al-
Qaeda before the fall of 2004 - a year and a half after the United
State invasion; there is in fact ample evidence that he was a jihadi
rival of bin laden until that time (possibly even continuing to be?)
