This is a summary of the points Don Meinshausen made to me during our last two phone calls, three days ago and tonight:
1. The LPNY nomination of Weld for Governor is driving a wedge into the Republican Party in New York.
2. The LPNY should try to get Weld to push for Instant Runoff Voting, and we should make a push for it inside the party [incidentally, I wished during the whole Convention last weekend that the LPNY conducted business with IRV, it would have made things go so much faster and easier.].
3. Don wants to run a personal ad in the Village Vice or Free Press (New York Press?). Anyone with information or ability to help is asked to contact Don.
4. Don wants Richard Cooper's address. If someone could email me that I'll pass it to him [nleobold(at)msn.com].
5. The LPNY should organize some public debates between Steve Greenfield and Jeff Russell, I.e. Green Party vs LP like Badnarik vs Cobb.
6. Don wants to hear about work on his Portland Convention proposal from Sean Huff.
7. Don wants to get on Al Lewis' Prison PenPal list.
8. Liberty Dollar people should contact the Ithaca hour currency people.
9. Don comments about Serf City: "It reminds me a lot of The Free Liberal newspaper.
10. Don urges Rich Cooper and the LPNY leadership to entice major magazines like Harper's, The New Yorker, and ten other similar marquee publications to do a feature article on the Weld/LPNY alliance.
11. Don wants Victor Niederhoffer's mailing address.
12. Don suggests LPNY members and friends join the chat rooms and discussion groups of other political parties and associations and try to monitor them and persuade their members to libertarian ideals. Don also suggests doing this with Spanish-speaking people [and maybe Asian-language] who can go on foreign language groups and inform about libertarianism. We have to talk to other groups and peoples, not just among ourselves, not just in our "LP Club".
13. Re: the Weld campaign, do they have delegate positions to the GOP-NY Convention that LPNY members can fill? We should find out.
14. We should have OPH/Libertarian info tables at the upcoming Green party and GOP New York Conventions, in order so people in other parties can learn just exactly what a real libertarian is, and what the word means, what we stand for, since we're nominating Weld and creating fusion alliances.
15. Don is working and thinking on combining culture, spirituality, and libertarianism on a unified theory of social ethics.
16. Ask Don how to send him small amounts of money to his prison account for vitamins, energy bars and granola, and personal essentials.
