Gay Marriage Ban Short of Votes in Senate Jun 05 LAURIE KELLMAN Associated Press http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/06/05/D8I271G01.html

Associated Press is reporting that the Gay Marriage Amendment has no hope of passing either the Senate or the House. So Bush's offering up the Gay Marriage as an issue right after his support of the Senate's Amnesty Bill has got to be viewed as disingenuous. I mean if Gay Marriage was really important to Bush2, then you'd have thought he'd have been pushing it a year ago, instead of bringing it out at practically the zero hour to get the issue into play for the 2006 Elections.

Given his terrible approval ratings in the polls for his radical foreign policy positions and disastrous jobs performance, Bush/Rove certainly aren't risking alienating any moderate voters---he lost those votes long time ago.

Maybe the liberals are right, that Republicans ARE disingenuous on the social issues. Maybe they are right, that Rove is using the Social Issues to divide Main Street from its economic interests. But the liberals have been accusing the Republicans of bringing out "divisive" social issues when they come looking for votes for years.
  But that dog won't hunt.

After all, aren't the Democrats the ones who are being "divisive" about social issues?

It's certainly clear to most folks on Main Street that gay marriage isn't a civil right, nor is it discrimination, but the activist Democrats are pushing it anyway. Even though the overwhelming majority of Americans is uncomfortable with our current Abortion-on-Demand policies, and want restrictions on abortions, it's the Democrat Party that is opposing any restrictions at all.

And are not race-based quotas for access to jobs, housing, and educational opportunities the most divisive issues of all? After all, affirmative action in college admissions doesn't do anything to correct the injustices of the legacy privileges that playboys like President Bush used to get into Harvard. NO--all affirmative action has done is pit the grandson of a Slovak mineworker with the great grandson of a slaves for what's slots are left open in the best schools. Affirmative action was the way the CEO and Leisure classes of passed off their responsibilty for racism to the lower classes, just like they do everything else.

There is nothing more "divisive" then affirmative action, and the Democrats are the party of race based quotas.

Truth is that the working class folks and those in the middle class have been looking suspiciously at the Democrats since 1968. If the Democrat Party was so concerned about working folks economic well being, then why are they doing everything they can to side with representatives of urban elitist enclaves like Major Gavin Newson? The Democrat Party is the party of blacks, single women, radical feminists, gay philanthropists, and government workers. The Democrat Party is the party of National Organization of Women, the Human Rights Campaign, and the National Education Association.

IF the Democrats were so concerned with the economic viability of Main Street, why are they so interested in doing hanging out with those folks who think that traditional family values are outdated and oppressive. Why are the Democrats the Party of those folks who want to kick references to God out of public discourse? Why are the Democrats the Party of the Teacher's Unions, whose agenda is to indoctrinate our kids into political correctness and multiculturalism instead of teaching basic math and science? Why is the Democrat Party the party of abortion on demand?

Frankly, the Democrats have got to learn that a voter is not going to be inclined to trust anyone with their economic security who is denigrating and undermining their religious and social values.

But I've got to agree that bringing out the Gay Marriage issue right after he supported the Senate Amnesty Bill is really bad timing...Bad Timing? It's downright bad taste. If the Republican Party honchos support an immigration bill whose purpose is to cheapen the most valuable thing the working class has---it's American citizenship----by giving away the benefits of citizenship to anybody who walks across the border, why should we believe that they give a hoot about gay marriage?
