And you know, we are dedicated to free speech on the air here in the US, as
long as it's speech deemed to be in good taste by the FCC.

When I was in Turkey many years ago I made good friends with a fellow who was
a greeter at a small chicken kabob restaurant in the Sultanahmet district. He
was a young fellow and probably representative of the liberal Muslim youth -
very similar to the youth in the United States.

One day I was enjoying some tea in front of the restaurant and this
conservative Muslim fellow and his 2 wives walked by. My friend offered him a
seat at the restaurant and they commenced to argue somewhat heatedly. The man
and his wives stormed off and went into the restaurant next door. I asked my
friend what the fight was about and he said that the man didn't like the fact
that his restaurant served alcohol (beer). I pointed out that the restuarant
they chose instead served cocktails with hard liquor and he just shrugged and
said "they [the conservative hard liners] are all hypocrites. They like to
fight but it doesn't stop them from doing exactly what they are fighting
against."

The story is somehwat irrelevant to the topic but I guess my point is that
people in Muslim countries, like people in other countries, come in all
different stripes and are not always correct. Mr. Dondero likes to lump all
Muslims together in what I believe to be a typical statist tactic to dehumanize
them. ItÂ’s easier to advocate for dropping bombs on people, the guilty and the
innocent, if you feel that they are all your enemy or potential enemy.

Government is the enemy of free speech. When government and religion are
allowed to intersect, speech will be restricted along religious lines. Give
conservative Christians enough say in government and remove first amendment
protections against religious legislation and they'd outlaw plenty of what we
see now, but that doesn't mean "Christians are the enemy of free speech." Just
some of them.
