Really easy at a time like this to rip into the Marines, and I am not reducing the seriousness of their actions....but let's be honest....
They were sent to Iraq to chase the boogiemen and catch flowers and candy while protecting US from nukes, chem and bio weapons. No flowers, candy, nukes or other WMD's anywhere to be found. They were lied to and trapped in a no win situation. Then, when they got a chance to come home, they sent them right back...again...and again....and for some 5 times. When their enlistment ran out...woops, they were told that didn't mean anything at all. In Iraq, they have worked with sleep deprivation most of the times, inadiquate food and water in 115 degree heat, inadiquate body armour and never know for sure just who the enemy is over there. Then Rumsfeld in his infinite insanity didn't send enough troops to secure the weapons stockpiles they found....and left unguarded the explosives became IED's for the resistance....NOT insurgency....NOT terrorist....RESISTANCE. Those same explosives and ammunition is not killing their buddies. There is no end in sight....Bush makes that abundantly clear whenever possible. In other words, you guys are here until we say different. Day after day they see their buddies get blown to shit by an invisible enemy. and the Iraqis? Most hate the troops. Wouldn't YOU if you were occupied by troops who were torturing and killing your countrymen and raiding YOU in the middle of the night? So folks, I ask this: are YOU sure YOU would have done better? After 3+ years of this??? Have YOU been in their shoes? Want to support our troops? Then save their asses. They are being used to fight a war that benefits corporations. left to die and have been pushed past the breaking point for NOTHING. Support the troops SAVE THEIR ASSES. Bring them HOME and send BUSH and the Republican Congress PACKING.
