That may explain the "high fiving" that was demonstrated. Everybody knew that the US would be involved in the mid east after the second plane hit the towers. But I think that Russia has gained more since 9/11 than Israel or Iraq. Immediately following the attacks, Chechen rebels or separatists were no longer referred to as freedom fighters. They were simply Islamic terrorists from that day forward. And, Russia suddenly had US intelligence and other help in their quest to subdue a wayward population.
