I hope that you and your family and friends enjoyed a terrific celebration of the 4th of July. I returned from the Libertarian Party's national convention on Monday night, in time to participate in Independence Day parades in Flagstaff, Parks, and Williams.
The parades were great experiences - in addition to putting the "Schlosser for Congress" name and image in front of thousands of enthusiastic celebrants, we handed out 15 pounds of candy, five pounds of dog biscuits, and hundreds of campaign fliers. I walked/jogged a few miles, probably lost a few pounds, and shook hands with old and new friends and supporters. The sense that politics as usual is no longer meeting the needs or expectations of Americans was palpable along the parade routes. No one will be able to accuse us of not being the hardest-working campaign in the race - the incumbent and his party were in none of the parades (admirably extending his <http://www.schlosserforcongress.com/blog/blog.php?blog_id=28> heritage of ignoring his constituents), and only one candidate in the Democratic primary participated in one of the parades. I want to extend my extraordinary gratitude to George Squyres for his organization of our participation in the parades - if I can a few Georges in every community in the district, as I've found Brian in Prescott, victory is ours. I'll have pictures from the parades posted to www.schlosserforcongress.com <http://www.schlosserforcongress.com/> later on Wednesday. The Libertarian convention was also a great experience. I spent several days with America's most passionate advocates of freedom and responsibility, met hundreds of new people, and connected with some old friends - including, to my pleasant surprise, one of my earliest supporters who lives in Seoul. I was invited to introduce one of the convention's speakers, so insomniac readers of this update may see me on C-SPAN introducing the country's highest sitting Libertarian jurist, Judge John Buttrick of Arizona. Perhaps most gratifying was the several introductions I made to complete strangers who responded, "I've been following your campaign because you've got a chance to make a real difference." I'll also get pictures from the convention posted to the Web site as soon as possible. Everything else has been light because of the travel and parades, but I've got a stack of questionnaires that arrived in the mail while I was out - those will be going up on the Web site shortly. I've found a little time to blog, and will catch up on all the notes I made during the past two weeks on the blog in the coming days.
