Doug, I know that I am an exception to the rule but I have spent most of my
life seriously working for freedom. I do not talk much but stay out of my way
or get run over.
This is from my profile:
In December 1967, I started a campaign to deregulate transportation in
Florida. Between 1967 and 1980 I was arrested numerous times for not having the
proper permits from the state to operate taxicabs and buses. During that time I
appeared in many places to speak on behalf of deregulation. I spent 6 months in
the Marion County Jail for refusing to buy a taxicab permit. Many times I was
on radio and TV and appeared in many newspapers. Over the years I have lobbied
the legislature and cities for deregulation and for more voter freedom.
Transportation deregulation became a fact in Florida on October 1, 1980. Voter
freedom happened in November 1998.
National transportation deregulation was based on what Florida did and the
experience there after.
I have been in the trenches fighting from the day I came home from the Army,
physically, electorally and in many other ways. I have been with the LP since
1974. I have ran in 10 campaigns and have received 20 to 25% in 5 of them. The
last was in 2004. In that race I received the highest number of votes for a
Florida Libertarian in State house races in 2004. That was 19,124 votes for a
24.75 percent.
However one does not have to be a bear knuckles street fighter nor a slick
politician to do good in the quest for freedom. Many here (not all) deserve
recognition for the work they do for freedom. Nothing that I have ever done
would
be meaningful if it were not for them and I would like to think that nothing
that any of them do would mean anything if it were not for people like me.

FREEDOM IS THE GOAL - RESPONSIBILITY IS THE PRICE-
TOLERANCE IS THE HALLMARK

Thank You,
