Dear readers,
It's Monday, and yet another "Web-Only" edition at RRND ... That
electrical storm in St. Louis still has most of the city blacked out
(not to mention our esteemed editor/publisher has caught some
non-computer based bug), so this is being cobbled together by one of
your other editors in this anarchosyndicalist
don't-call-us-a-collective known as Rational Review.
At any rate, new News, including a report on the status of northern
Missouri; the relative success of the Dixie Chicks in spite of country
radio refusing to play their CDs; a story about a guy running for
Tennessee Governor AND US Senate, using the (legal) middle name of
"None of the Above"; some stories about Iraq, the continued bombing
and other attacks on Lebanon by Israel; Bush protestors heading to
court; cohabitation ruled legal in North Carolina ... and lots more.
On the Commentary side, we have Vin Suprynowicz on the federalization
of the immigration issue, James Bovard on the 'terrorist' batting
average, a personal comment about children and war, opinions on Bush
at the G8 summit and elsewhere, a consideration of the proper duties
of not-for-profit hospitals, the Bush veto of stem cell research (and
a questioning of the larger issue, whether or not the fedgov should be
involved in ANY scientific research funding!) ...
I think there's even one in there I (Steve) wrote, but see for
yourself! It's all there and much more.
Meanwhile, we WILL get through this and soon as Tom can get his juice
turned back on (assuming they don't declare St Louis another New
Orleans, and just start shootin' everybody), and the creek don't rise
and the cow don't die ... we'll still be here somehow anyway, day
after day, without a break, for getting close to a 1000 issues ...

Have a great day, and maybe we'll be back tomorrow (come hail or storm
or ...) with the regular email edition.
Yours in liberty,
Steve Trinward, Editor... standing in for
Tom Knapp
