No, I would not describe Charlie Crist as a "Ron Paul libertarian."
I would however, describe him as a "James Madison Institute
libertarian leaner." Crist has close ties to the
libertarian/conservtive think tank in Tallahassee. As you may know
Gov. Bush appointed libertarian Randall Holcombe, Ph.D. of James
Madison to his Board of Economic Advisors. Randall was the luncheon
speaker at the recent RLC convention.

Just as important, Crist appointed Rep. Kottkamp, described by the
Palm Beach Post as a "libertarian leaning free marketeer" as his
running mate for Lt. Gov.

In essence, I wouldn't say Crist will be quite as dogmatic a
libertarian as either soon-to-be Alaska Governor Sarah Palin (a close
friend of the Libertarian Party), or soon-to-be Governor Butch Otter
of Idaho, (just featured in the latest Reason Magazine as
a "libertarian Republican), but he'll be pretty damned good.
