Iraq War
Deaths Across Iraq Show It Is a Nation of Many Wars, With U.S. in the Middle
Consider a recent day an average 24 hours in Iraq. Here in the capital, the
bodies of eight young men were found chained together, stripped of
identification papers, shot and dumped in a parking lot, the first of 20
corpses found in the city that day. The article discusses battles in various
parts of Iraq: West Desert Insurgency, Militia-Plagued Capital, Internal Shiite
Warfare, and Kurdish-Arab Clashes
Mental Health and War
After fight comes battle for peace
While emotional stress may be a normal reaction to combat, seeking help for
psychological problems can still be a stigma.
PTSD Can Take Months to Strike Wounded Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans
Soldiers wounded during combat in Iraq and Afghanistan often develop
post-traumatic stress disorder and depression months after getting out of a
hospital, instead of soon after suffering their injuries, a new study found.
Recognizing trauma in our war veterans
There are more than 26 million veterans of war living in the United States,
according to the Department of Veteran Affairs. More than half of the veterans
returning from combat will experience some mental health symptoms, according to
psychologists.
