In Florida NPA stands for "No Party Affiliation"
There is several reasons for that.
There is the publicly stated reason:
John Wayne Smith and James J. Kearney have qualified to be on the ballot for
the General elections as NPA (No Party Affiliation) candidates.

John Wayne is the vice chair of the American Libertarian Party of Florida and
James is the chair of the Broward County affiliate of the LPF. This
necessitated the filing as NPA because they are from two different Parties.

Then there is the real reason: I do not put up with bull especially from
Libertarians and am not a very popular guy in some circles. This particular
year
the state party meeting in convention would not allow me to use the Libertarian
Party of Florida label. The American Libertarian Party of Florida had been
trying to get me to change parties for many months, so I changed and was going
to Run under their label.
However I had already chosen Jimbo as my running mate and because he wanted
to fulfill his commitment to be the Chair of the Broward Party he would not
change party's and after several months of wrangling I had to make the choice
to
keep him as my running mate because there was no one as closely qualified as
he was to choose from.
Later on I left the ALP because they have no public decorum and seem not to
be able to talk proper English. I am now an independent.

I have been associated with the Libertarian Party since 1974 but this year I
am not a candidate for the Libertarian Party, US
Because it seems likely that there will be many Libertarian Party's in the
future, I will be a Libertarian Party candidate in the future but not
necessarily with the LPUS.

By the Way: By agreeing to support your single position in return for your
endorsement would be the same thing as selling my vote for a trinket or a
million dollars. I would be a bought man and no longer own that part of my life
or
person.

Thank You

John Wayne Smith, NPA Candidate for Governor of Florida, 2006
James J. (Jimbo) Kearney, NPA Candidate For Lt. Governor of Florida 2006
The first Libertarians on a Florida statewide state level ballot
