This could throw the race and the entire House to the Democrats.

Brillant move actually. I gotta admire their cleverness here.

Just think if the Libertarian Party were to do the exact same thing in
a couple key races for the GOP in these last few days.

There's precedent for this. In South Dakota, the LP candidate dropped
out 3 days before the election and backed Republican John Thune for US
Senate a few years back.

The LP could get a HUGE AMOUNT of national media.

And the GOP should do exactly the same thing in TX CD-22 for
Libertarian Bob Smither. Axe Hyphen Lady and go with Bob!!

******

Personally, I think it was all a set up. I don't believe the Green
candidate ever intended to stay in the race. It still makes for great
theater, though.

For the LP, however, a rerun is unlikely to take place. The LP got burned
in the Thune race, and our credibility hasn't rebounded. Fool me once,
shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Fact is, the LP is highly unlikely to run a candidate in a race where the
republican is remotely acceptable. Such as against Ron Paul or Leon Drolet.

In 2000 (the last time the LP was allowed on the ballot in Ohio), I had
misgivings about running a candidate for our county commissioner against a
republican that had a great state house record, had spoken at FCLP meetings
and was a supporter of CATO. That was Bill Schuck running against former
Communist Workers Party member Mary Jo Kilroy running as a democrat. Bill
ran an abysmal campaign that focused on big government republican programs
and he got 47% to Mary Jo's 48%. When republicans run as faux democrats,
voters will pick the real thing every time. FWIW, today Mary Jo is poised
to beat Deb Pryce for Congress. Deb has undoubtedly the worst republican
record in the House, and had listed the disgraced Mark Foley as her best
friend in an interview just before the scandal broke!

My own hope is that the republicans lose their majority by exactly *one*
House seat. Then the LP could point to TX-22 as the reason why. THAT would
be huge!
