If you look at the latest government figures on who pays Federal income taxes in this country (the data is available at http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-soi/03in05tr.xls and a fantastic graphical summary is provided at http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/menu/cy2003.guest.html), you'll see that the top 50% of income earners pay more than 96.5% of all income taxes, while the top 1% pay more than a third: 34.27%. This means that America's increasingly outrageous income tax burden is shouldered by a pathetically small minority of productive citizens, and the majority of wage earners are strap-hangers who are subsidized by that minority.
