As I keep telling people the English language is the continuing
result of a very long and complex series of events which began
on the battlefield of Hastings on October 14, AD 1066 when a Norman
arrow penetrated King Harold's eye and killed him.
As recently as the 1930s, respectable, establishment dictionaries reported that
the phrase "to work like a n*gg*r" was a compliment.
For an understanding of the use and misuse of language to control people,
I recommend 1984 by George Orwell. He was quite prophetic although
he was about 25 years off.

For life and liberty,

Subject: [Libertarian] LIMITED vs UNIVERSAL Libertarianism

A strict reading of Merriam-Webster's definition of the uncapitalized
word libertarian, could describe a possible socio-path!

  FROM: Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary

  Main Entry: lib·er·tar·i·an
  Pronunciation: "li-b&r-'ter-E-&n
  Function: noun

1 : an advocate of the doctrine of free will

2 a : a person who upholds the principles of absolute and
unrestricted liberty especially of thought and action

b capitalized : a member of a political party advocating libertarian
  principles

  - libertarian adjective
  - lib·er·tar·i·an·ism /-E-&-"ni-z&m/ noun

If such a 'free spirit' also commands enough material agency (aka:
brute physical force power) they can become a dictator over others
that don't have enough power to prevail in resisting.

But, there may also be others in this arena with enough countervailing
power to remain uncounquered. If, instead of competing for kingship
(playing 'king of the mountain') they enter into a 'truce' over such
physical aggression they can become an 'oligarchy' (dictatorship by a
ruling elite) This reciprocity would be of course LIMITED to a
relative few; some Liberty & Justice for SOME

The ancient Roman Republic was such an oligarchy; in which most
people were either slaves (aka: property) or otherwise NOT part of
the ruling elite. Since some people and actions were EXCEPTED from
the elite's reciprocity of a physical aggression truce that otherwise
enabled mutually beneficial human interaction, this scenario can be
considered to be an example of 'LIMITED libertarianism'

'UNIVERSAL libertarianism' is what humanity has conceptualized and
been progressing towards during the last several hundred years.

Actually, there have been multiple arenas of 'physical aggression
truces' since BEFORE humanity. In any grouping of social critters,
a 'truce' on physical aggression is present to the degree that there
is mutual beneficial interaction within that group. For example, in
the ancient Roman Republic, there was a physical aggression truce
among the ruling elite, others among slaves and so on. None of this
is to say that these various truces were adhered to perfectly of
  course.

  But, humanity is 'growing up'

Libertarianism of the UNIVERSAL kind, in today's 'shrinking world'
political arena is humanity's last best hope....

reciprocal comprehensive physical autonomy for ALL persons

aka: Liberty & Justice for ALL
