To follow up more on my views of county and local government, there
is a principle in Public Choice Economics called the Tiebout
Principle which basically most public services should be at the local
level because competition would tend to produce better services and
offer people the most choices. For the vast majority of people it
would be far easier to vote with their feet from one local government
to another rather than out of the state or out of the country and the
feet voting cost usually is much less, a person can live in one
town, work in another town, shop in another, go to church in another,
send their kids to school in another and have a vacation place in
another, try doing all those varieties between states, or between
countries for most people it's
impossible.
Now I don't think the local or even the county should have
jusisdiction over the courts or be able to imprison except just long
enough to transfer a prisoner under state jurisdiction, jails should
basically be very temporary holding areas, prison should be under
the state or the state district and the federal government would have
oversight of jails, prisons and work house but the federal government
should not be allowed to operate jails, prisons or workhouses.
Before arresting someone both the federal and state government would
have to get the permission of the elected county Sheriff and a
elected county district Constiple or towns elected Cheif of Police
unless the state was arresting the Sheriff and or Constiple and or
Chief of Police but the federal government would not be allowed to
arrest the Sheriff, Contisple or Chief of
Police.
Most legislation including age of consent to get married,
minum age to drive and zoning laws should be at the county or local
level but zoning laws can only be in relation to common law and local
custom nuciences and tresspasses but the county or local government
would be required to prove the relationship and the harm if a
defedent chooses to take the matter to
court.
Most all government property ownership would be turned over to
the county or local government or Indian Tribes including, Miltary
bases, roads, interstates, turnpikes, Airports, Sea ports and docks
border stations, federal and state parks, forests, game perserves,
federal Bureu of Land Management areas, utilities like TVA, Dams,
canals, colleges, universities, most state and federal buildings.
Those properities actually used by the state or federal government
such as miltary bases, The White House the Capital building, prisons
and worhouses can be leased or rented from the county or local
government. The county or local government could either operate the
interstate in its area, the parks, utilities, canals, colleges and
universties are lease or rent them out to the private sector either
for profit or non profit..--- In
