According to Janes.com, Kuwait is a hotbed of Al Quaida activity.

But, you are right, Kuwait DID recently allow certain low level
elections....some twenty five years after Iran allowed elections for the top
offices in that country!

Didn't we fight a war there fifteen years ago to bring "democracy" to the
Kuwaiti's?  No wonder the Iraqi's aren't too impressed with our zeal to
bring "democracy" to their country!

Not sure where you're getting your information from, but I've always
thought of Kuwait, entirely opposite, as one of the most pro-
freedom, pro-democracy of Muslim countries.

They just opened up local municipal elections a couple years back to
all adults, including females.  Not a giant leap, but certainly a
step in the right direction.
