I haven't heard the John Denver thing on the radio, that was on her
webpage.

I think Kubby is very upbeat and positive.

Although they agree on the vast majority of political topics, there
are some issues on which Phillies and Kubby disagree.

According to

http://www.homelandstupidity.us/2007/02/25/badnarik-answers-charge-of-abandoning-party/

"Phillies told dozens of Free State Project members this weekend that
he supported the Federal Reserve because they maintained "the
elasticity of money."

This from an article at the website Homeland Stupidity (which covers
Michael Badnarik's endorsement of Ron Paul), and although in another
thread on LFV George denies making any specific comments about
elasticity, so far he has not given a direct answer as to whether he
would in fact eliminate the federal reserve if able to do so.

If I was him and wanted to get rid of it, especially after having been
accused of being in favor, I would have given a more direct answer.

Maybe Angela can get a clear answer tomorrow.

In addition, so far we have identified several other positions on
which the candidates hold different views:

1) Immigration

KUBBY: http://www.kubby2008.com/node/3
Pro-immigration freedom. My kind of libertarian!

PHILLIES: "Borders - Americans who quote the Statue of Liberty's
message `Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free' should remember
that it was written when France, Germany and Russia were autocratic
monarchies. The huddled masses of Europe now breathe free. When
Americans want open borders, they will tell Congress to vote for open
borders. George Bush has created many enemies for America. Keeping
them from coming here to injure our children and grandchildren must
remain a top priority for the foreseeable future."

"Foreign Workers - All too often, we hear claims that we must import
foreign workers because Americans won't do those jobs. `Those jobs'
are hard, physically demanding, outdoor work that require constant,
careful attention to detail. Those jobs should be receiving a wage
premium, not be barely-minimum-wage sources of employment. If those
jobs paid that premium, there would be Americans available to do them.
Mr. Bush's foreign guest worker scheme is a corporate welfare deal at
the expense of the American worker."

Paul) I have attempted to discuss this apparently Eurocentric position
with Dr. Phillies on several occassions and while he has elaborated
his positions somewhat, the impression remains the same, see the
comments at:

http://lastfreevoice.com/2007/01/04/immigration-and-the-2008-lp-presidential-race/

"George

who is proud to be part of the 2500 year old Euro-American cultural
tradition of law, liberty, and prosperity, a tradition that via the
political market is in the process of taking the world by voluntary
consent. And, remember, when the Founding Fathers refered to their
legal forefathers, they referred to `our ROMAN forefathers', because
the American structure of government can be traced back to the Roman
Republic."

paul) We also covered this issue in the posts and comments extensively at:

2) Child Tuition Tax Credits

PHILLIES: In the candidate debate in Nevada, George Phillies endorsed
the idea of a tax credit to parents to be used for education. I did
not find such a position in his issues page; however, the debate is
available in our media files at kubby2008.com.

KUBBY: Steve has also not published anything about this issue to my
knowledge, but he expressed his disagreement with George's stated
position on this issue in an email to the campaign team, saying
government would inevitably abuse such a system, for example by tying
it to drug convictions.

3) Trade

PHILLIES: "When we place a financial burden however labeled on
American manufacturers, fairness dictates that foreign imports be
subject to the same burden, a tax equivalent to whatever minimum wage
and environmental restrictions foreign manufacturers are avoiding."

http://phillies2008.com/phillies_on_free_trade

KUBBY: No written position yet, but has indicated he would oppose tax
equalization schemes to resolve trade fairness problems in a memo to
the campaign team.

This is not necessarily an exhaustive list of issue differences
between the two candidates; just what we have identified so far.
