Hello All,
I have said on numerous occasions that the suggestions to curb immigration will be nothing more than measures to harass those that are already here legally. You would think that those that support gun rights would understand this simple fact. Laws that prohibit activities that are otherwise harmless only harm those that follow an otherwise excessive law. So it goes with Gun Control and the same can be said for immigration. Prohibition doesn't work and the results of the prohibition are often times worse than having no prohibition at all. This is the case where people are left defenseless by overly restrictive laws regulating the access and use of firearms. Now people who are clamoring for the Government to do something about immigration are facing an all out Police State onslaught and some cannot feel safe on their property as Government's raid them and via the law confiscate it by telling them how they may use it. Thank you all for cutting off your nose despite your face as the old saying goes...... Vic "ARIVACA, Arizona (Reuters) - A pilot project to place a high-tech network of surveillance towers along a stretch of the U.S.-Mexico border has met boisterous opposition in this Arizona town, where some residents call it "Big Brother." The U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency is installing a network of nine towers with ground radar and night vision cameras to monitor a 28-mile (45-km) stretch of border near Arivaca, southwest of Tucson. It is the first trial for the communications and technology arm of the government's Secure Border Initiative announced in 2005. Dubbed "SBInet," authorities say it will be extended across some 6,000 miles of the Mexican and Canadian borders in segments in coming years. "It's like Big Brother. It will place the whole town under surveillance," community activist C Hues told Reuters as residents gathered for a meeting late on Tuesday with CBP and Border Patrol representatives." http://www.reuters.com/article/domesticNews/idUSN1642633020070516?feedType=RSS&rpc=22 "Americans are being conditioned to live in a Soviet-style prison nation with border minefields, national electronic ID, travel controls, random searches, etc. all justified by the need to protect the welfare state against the poor of the world. It isn't the libertarian's job to defend the welfare state, or the Gulag that it always becomes. It is our job to point out that the State itself is the problem. Without the US government support for Third World kleptocracies, more countries would be free (and more people would want to stay there). Without public schools, "free" medical care, etc., immigrants would not drain our nation. They would power it, as they did in the early 20th century."--"The Immigration Solution" by Bill Walker [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
