I believe in free speech - that includes the ability to criticize others when they make ridiculous statements - even if the criticism is coming from elected officials. This petition does not violate free speech, it just urges a particular group - who falsely believes they speak for "real" Americans - to speak out against a particular individual's bullshit. Free speech vs. free speech. I don't see a problem.
The right to express an opinion does come with a corresponding right to be free of criticism for said expression. Kneejerk "you're being PC" defenses are nothing but attempts to distract from this point. It isn't a "thought crime" unless it is outlawed. Where has Ann Coulter's right to express an opinion been outlawed?
