Why Bloomberg is Running (see: Taft vs Wilson & Teddy R.)

The purpose of a Bloomberg candidacy won't be to win, but rather to
throw the election from Ron Paul to Hillary. Here is what I wrote to
the Denver Ron Paul group a few weeks ago:

If Ron Paul gets the Republican nomination (and I think he
has a good chance in doing so), Bloomberg will jump into the race as an
independent, thereby throwing the race to Hillary. This will be a
repeat of what happened in 1912. In the race between pro-WWI Wilson
(one of the very few presidents worse than Bush) and pro-peace Taft,
the pro-war Theodore Roosevelt (one of the antagonizers of the
Spanish-American war) jumped into the race in order to throw the
election to Wilson. Bloomberg will be spending his own money and won't
have to comply with FEC rules.
