My name is John Wayne Smith, long time Libertarian activist here in Florida.
Many of you know me, but many of you do not.
I am writing you today to present to you Ms. Ilene Davis. Ms. Davis, a long
time Brevard County Florida resident is seeking the Group 1 County Commission
seat in Brevard County
Several years ago I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Davis and listening to
her talk about what was important in Brevard County that she wanted to address.
Those problems still exist and Ms. Davis still wants to address those
problems.

Several of Ms. Davis’ positions are:
Ø. YELLOW PAGE TEST if the county provides a service that can be found in
the yellow pages, county employees should be required to compete for the work
to give taxpayers the best value.
Ø. COMMISSIONER BENEFITS. Commissioners are really contract employees
hired for a specific job for a specific time. They should not be eligible for a
tax-funded pension.
Ø. ELIMINATE UNNECESSARY SPENDING. Too often, once a program is in the
budget, the only discussion is whether to increase or decrease its budget. I
propose to require every county employee show how their job actually benefits
the
taxpayer or our economy. Eliminate all programs that fail this test, and
return the funding to taxpayers.
Ø. REWARD CITIZENS FOR COST SAVING IDEAS. I propose to encourage all
Brevard taxpayers to find waste in the county budget and earn a percentage of
the
monies saved from ideas that are implemented. I am confident taxpayers can
come up with creative ways to solve problems and find millions in waste, fraud
and efficiency that employees might have overlooked.

Ms. Davis, to my knowledge is the only branded Libertarian Candidate on a
Florida ballot in 2008. It is my belief that if we want to make a difference we
will support all libertarian/freedom candidates who have made the effort to get
themselves on the ballot.
I am asking you to please help Ms. Davis in her effort. There are many places
where just a few hours a week would be of great help to her.
And of course she can use money. Even $10.00 from each of you would be a big
help.
Ilene Davis will appear on November 4 Brevard County General Election ballot.
