No, it's not as simple as that. Copyright enforcement is a joke, to say that sharing an item with someone is illegal and warrants lawsuits and home invasions is ridiculous. The artists may have rights but they don't usurp all of ours.

The scientologists I've met haven't used any force and fraud that I've seen. I know I was a member. They are the perfect example of government sitting back and allowing force and fraud to go on at the same time, all because of their power. Their tax exempt status has been stripped in many countries, the only reason they ever got it in the US was the fact that they filed over 2500 law suits against the IRS and they finally capitulated. > > We are a country obsessed with copyrights and have used them to rent seek and not allow certain industries to change with the market place, further ripping off the market place. Instead we plead to the federal government to save our industry by enforcing stupid laws that get you served with papers at the front door or even worse the door gets kicked in. I'm tired of these artistic asswholes who haven't excepted the fact the market place has changed and that's all there is to it. The artists types that are usually concerned about everyone's rights don't seem to care that they have turned loose a government on their behalf that is fining people money and kicking in doors all in the name of protecting there creation. > > I THINK I'M GOING TO PUKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! > > HOW LONG ARE WE GOING TO OPPRESS OURSELVES WITH THIS CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! > > DC 4 Liberty > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Nicolas Leobold > To: Libertarian@yahoogroups.com > Sent: Monday, August 25, 2008 4:09 PM > Subject: [Libertarian] Re: I meet Rudy Giuliani in a movie theater Saturday night > > > But those are copyrighted works of The Church of Scientology. > > Freedom of Speech applies to curtailing government suppression, it > doesn't apply to private property and an organization or individual > controlling their own materials. > > If the videos were Scientology property and they were stolen/broadcast > without permission, then Cruise and the church have a right to be angry. > > Nic > > --- In Libertarian@yahoogroups.com, "Peter" <pyotr@> wrote: > > > > Yes, see his response to the airing of his Scientolgy videos. > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > > From: Nicolas Leobold > > To: Libertarian@yahoogroups.com > > Sent: Tuesday, August 19, 2008 12:25 PM > > Subject: [Libertarian] Re: I meet Rudy Giuliani in a movie theater > Saturday night > > > > > > --- In Libertarian@yahoogroups.com, pyotr@ wrote: > > > > > > Rudy might have responded better if you treated him like Tom: > > > "Love you, Rudy" > > > > > > Tom Cruise is not exactly a defender of Freedom of Speech > either...
