NOTE: This is satire. It is fictional in nature. Except that as far as
I can tell, this guy Lee Mercer is for real serious about running for
President. That's what makes it so funny.

Bob Barr Refuses to Meet with Lee Mercer
aka A Day in the Life of the Barr Campaign
by Chris Edes
September 18, 2008

Libertarian Party Presidential candidate Bob Barr raised eyebrows again
yesterday, when he refused to meet with Presidential candidate Lee L.
Mercer, Jr. Mercer had hoped to discuss third-party unity.

Bob Barr had been initially receptive. Yet he later withdrew, citing
concerns that Mercer's platform was "incomprehensible."

In particular, the Barr campaign cited statements like Mercer's promise
"To Prove to you citizens you do not know what and how I am suppose to
do for you and what and how I am suppose to do for the United States of
America's Government National and International."

Barr also had a problem with Mercer's assertions that "I have solved
every crime in the world as it happens from zero to start to finish for
every crime done" and that he will "prove Jeb Bush is all in my house
with disease."

Concern was also raised by Mercer's assertion that he will "prove the
United States of America has two Governments and they are Government #1
and Government #2 and I own Government # 1" and that he plans to "prove
the United States of America has two Presidents and I am one of them."

Reaction to Barr's decision was mostly negative. Some compared the snub
to Barr's recent refusal to meet with Cynthia McKinney.

"Lee Mercer offers America another choice as well," argued one undecided
voter. "Any third party candidate is better than the duopoly, right?"

"Just because a candidate's platform reads like the Communist Manifesto,
that doesn't mean they can't support Liberty. I don't see why that would
confuse anyone," McKinney supporter Vladimir Ilyich argued, peering at
the red star on his armband. "We should all do what the people want. I
can't imagine a more pro-freedom agenda."

Dark hints were made about Barr's refusal to discuss Government #2.
"Mercer is just saying what everyone's thinking," said a bystander with
a shiny hat. "What's Bob Barr trying to hide?"

"Bob Barr is the enemy of truth," a nearby political activist announced.
"There can be no more doubt. There's no possible excuse for, um,
whatever he did." Pausing to reflect, he added: "I don't need to know
the facts because Barr is a statist a------."

"Bob Barr is a neocon," agreed a man who gave his name as "Carl Rowe".
"Not like Sarah Palin. Would you like some literature?"

A Barr campaign staffer suggested Barr ask Mercer to be his VP, but no
one listened to him this time. "What the f--- is wrong with you?"
another staffer retorted. "There's no way this guy should have the
f------ launch codes."

Others were more concerned that Barr had disrespected Mercer's message.
"It's not just Jeb Bush," one bystander noted. "The whole government is
all in my house with disease. This is an issue the major parties wont
talk about."
