All criminals need to be punished The government should not be labeling anyone's beliefs and speech and evaluating it, whether they have committed a crime or not
If the government gets to decide there are unapproved thoughts and opinions, and then it gets to assess extra penalties whenever someone commits a "crime" and also has those opinions, we will soon have thought control If you do not believe the government approved opinions for example, and someone baits you into a fist fight, then when you are all hauled into court, you may receive extrapunishment for your beliefs. I am sure thereare those who would then be happy to see this extended to all forms of government rewards and punishments. Having the wrong opinions will get you penalized not just when you commit a crime against a person, but when you are in a child custody battle, apply for a license, apply for a student loan, etc etc On Sat, May 16, 2009 at 1:40 PM, Mech-el Samberg <[email protected]>wrote: > > > Homophoebes need to be punished to the full extent of the law as well as > those committing other hate crimes. > > --- In [email protected] <House_of_Dawg%40yahoogroups.com>, > Wally III <bleed_four...@...> wrote: > > > > (My comment: you may not want to read > > this, and you might not really care either > > way, about it, but you NEED to read this) > > ---------------------------------------- > > > > > > > > > > > > The Hate Crimes Prevention Bill > > will be in the Senate this week. > > > > > > > > > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
