I was recently on my Facebook page and saw that someone had taken one of those
tests they have on Facebook, this particular one to see what political party
you belonged in. The test indicated the Libertarian Party complete with the
logo, etc. Then they had a definition of the Libertarian philosophy which was
the following:

"You are a Libertarian. You believe the individual is only responsibility to
his or herself. You believe competition is the only fair way to distribute
resources, and that the free market is self-correcting. You do not believe in
government or authority in any form, but you differ from anarchists in that you
believe the individual is more important than the community, and that the
former has no responsibility to the latter. You also believe property rights
are fundamental to all other rights, and thus hold greater importance. You do
not believe in any social or economic or social regulation, beyond what is
minimally necessary to protect property rights.."

Hello? I guess this is the kind of media bashing that we have to constantly
fight against. It seems as though we are facing an uphill battle. I immediately
explained how that definition was horribly inaccurate and slanted to make
libertarians appear as non-caring, irresponsible people. but this apparently
represents what Facebook thinks about us.
