In Washington DC under President Carter (the previous Odumbie) the federal
government gave everyone your tax money if they wold legalize right on red.
Carter though people were using too much gas and causing gas lines (caused
by his price controls), because they were stopped, idling, at red lights.

DC took the money and used it to put up "no turn on red" signs everywhere.
So right on red is legal on DC in general, but illegal at many
intersections.

But this created a lot of jobs for a year (of course many more private
sector jobs were destroyed, as they are being now, byt the tax money stolen
ot of the economy to pay for this). And now we have the permanent upkeep
bill to maintain these signs.
