That is yet another factor that is leading more people towards seccession, the
baby boomers will start retiring in large numbers in 2010 and cause the social
security system as well as the retirement funds to go bankrupt. Ironically, the
only northeastern state with low unemployment is New Hampshire which is making
me start to reconsider the idea of moving their with all the positive changes
they are starting to cause their. I also saw another libertarian seccession
group called the free west alliance that is targetting Idaho, Montana, and
Wyoming as libertarian states. Their success in growth is primarily in Montana
and Wyoming. Their seems to be a huge mormon movement in Idaho that is counting
that state out. The facts I have noticed lately is New Hampshire borders Canada
and the Atlantic which makes it easier for trade. I may end up joining the free
state project especially with what I see in the near future. The problem I now
see with Wyoming is I can see our current government blockading the state and
preventing them from establishing trade with anyone else. Their are protestants
targeting South Carolina as their first state for seccession and as weird as
this may sound, they are not having as much success currently despite how many
active members they have as the free state project. Also, a leftist group is
pushing a seccession movement in the state of Vermont because they are unhappy
with the democrats in Washington D.C. I believe this is a very interesting time
we are living in.

I believe Texas can legally make itself into from 3-5 states, as that
provision was in the congressional act that accepted Texas into the union. In
Alaska, there is an Independence Party, which while not seeking immediate
independence, wants the option if the federal government continues to exercise
unconstitutional actions and ignore the 10th Amendment. Governor Palin was
beaten up in the press because her husband was at one time active in that
party. It doesn't make any difference whether you have a liberal Republican
like Arnold or a liberal Democrat, the states, like the federal government,
need to be trying to balance their budgets, not creating new entitlements.
Federally we have a social security and medicare system heading for bankruptcy,
yet they want to create new entitlements. And the pork bill, went out with
strings attached. A couple governors tried without success to not accept
certain funds, as they created new entitlements on the states. For example,
unemployment payments now go to people who quit working on their own or were
only working parttime. If one's family is spending more than they take in, the
correct remedy is not to increase the amount of money you spend, but to
decrease it.

Also, I wonder if when states go bankrupt like California, would it cause
different regions of that state to have a seccession from the state itself and
form their own state? Is that a possible scenario? If so, I wonder if it can
happen in Florida?

How soon will California go bust? I have a feeling when that
happens, it will have a ripple effect to other states across the country. I
have also noticed seccession movements increasing across the country with
everything that is going on. Does anybody else notice or see anything else I
might be missing here?
