In point of fact, the 'Students' and the rest of the protesters were not 'led to believe' anything. This was a very spontaneous uprising and they were fully aware of the risks and expected what happened to be the most likely end result. I would know, because I have spoken with these people both before and after, and it's not some fake mass twitter. I do believe that Israel would love to take advantage of the situation and time their attack on Iran's nukes to match the unrest, however. The Israelis are quite satisfied with their Intel Network there and are not actively trying to politically intervene.
