They tolerate it because they don't see it. Speaking of metaphors
and analogies, let me give you a better one than baseball: the
dysfunctional family. In the cycle of violence, the children do
not "see" the parental abuse inflicted upon them because they are
raised in it and are constantly given false information. While
the solution does involve the kids awakening to the situation,
they are NOT to blame. In fact, the key to the solution lies in
properly placing the blame on the abusers. Obviously we are the
children and the government is our abusive custodians. And while
we are generally miserable because of our constant victimization,
we are not really aware yet; so the cure is a matter of our
learning the hard truth about the source of our suffering. It's a
"hard" truth because we really don't want to believe that our
leaders are our victimizers. But a little education about all the
evidence proves it. But the absolute worst thing to do is to
blame the victims (for "letting" it happen).
