Yes, yes! And if the police-incident turns out to be nearby, many
people could actually show up on location with MORE cameras
pointing at the aggressors. Cops and Feds hate to even have their
faces photographed, let alone their actions and words recorded.
It doesn't take a genius to know why; because they are regularly
breaking their own laws. Even one little violation in procedure
and the recording ends up in the hands of the defense attorney
and the defendant is acquitted "on a technicality". And of course
the online public gets more and more educated about the nature of
real gang violence (and finally realizes that "oh, that is
government!").

What I am saying is that everyone's cell-phone could be in record
mode all the time. Call it "personal monitoring" or "personal
protection" or whatever. Of course there could be privacy issues
if the owner loses control of his/her recording, but such things
would be dealt with (don't fret over a problem until it arrives).
But the big advantage would be the capture of vital information /
exculpatory evidence as it happens. Of course as we speak, the
gov is trying to get control of the internet.

-------------------

This may be the key to making it work. Technology is turning the
tide in our favor.

There would be huge networks of independent activists sharing
their experiences in real time. Whenever one of them is attacked
by the police, the other members of the network could come to
their aid by sending out press releases, filing criminal
complaints against public officials, posting in social networking
sites, etc.

While these networks would have no command structure, they would
have to share some common core beliefs, such as a rejection of
all violence. Any member not adhering to these beliefs would lose
the support of the network. In this way, public opinion will be
kept in our favor.
