You are only ONE amongst many voters.... Also....

I am committed to victory, but I won't sugar coat or hide my Libertarian
Platform message just to get elected. There is a more important goal, though,
and that's to use running for office as a way to spread the Libertarian message.

I do not consider winning an election to be the most important thing when
running for political office. The most important goal I have when running for
office is to use it as a platform to help spread Libertarian ideas. If I win,
it will simply be icing on the cake.

I will vote with what is in alignment with individual rights, liberties, and
free-market principles. I think the worst type of politician is the one that
just blindly follows what his/her constituency states. Candidates should listen
to the voters but should also provide guidance and should not be held hostage
to their irrational beliefs.

The worst type of politician is the one that just blindly votes the way his/her
constituency states to vote. There must be the RIGHT type of philosophy to
guide a candidate. That candidate should also have the courage to state his/her
positions, even if such views might be unpopular.

The worst type of politician is one that just panders blindly to the voters,
even if what the voters want is fundamentally wrong. A perfect example is the
one dealing with ex-Governor of Alabama George Wallace. You may read his story
by going to the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Wallace hyperlink.
When George Wallace initially ran for political office, he did not run on a
segregationist platform to violate the rights of blacks. He wound up LOSING to
a segregationist.

I quote from the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Wallace hyperlink: George
Wallace "was defeated by John Patterson in Alabama's Democratic gubernatorial
primary election in 1958, which at the time was the decisive election, the
general election still almost always being a mere formality. This was a
political crossroads for Wallace. Patterson ran with the support of the Ku Klux
Klan, an organization Wallace had spoken against, while Wallace was endorsed by
the NAACP.[2] After the election, aide Seymore Trammell recalled Wallace
saying, 'Seymore, you know why I lost that governor's race?... I was
outniggered by John Patterson. And I'll tell you here and now, I will never be
outniggered again.'[2][4] In the wake of his defeat, Wallace adopted hard-line
segregationism, and used this stand to court the white vote in the next
gubernatorial election."

Translation: George Wallace became a political whore to the people just for the
sake of getting elected. It was obvious that the people of Alabama were wrong
in having a system of segregation that REQUIRED that all establishments,
government-owned and private, be separated based on color. This was OBVIOUSLY
wrong.

Then... after segregation ceased to be the cool thing for a politician to
support in Alabama, this sack of scum switches his political position, once
again just to get elected, and gets elected by saying how sorry he was that he
supported segregation and that he renounces segregation. To me... he was just
the epitomy of the worse type of politician one can have.... a politician with
no real convictions and that is willing to to whatever the people dictate he
should do - even if it is totally irrational and wrong.

I will not be that type of candidate. I will stand on my convictions. These
convictions are Libertarian political principles, and I shall not waver from it
even if it means I lose elections.

I have already had people come up to me and say that they will not vote for me
because I support a woman's right to abortion. Fine... do not vote for me.

I am running as a candidate to help spread the Libertarian political philosophy
of limited government, free-enterprise, individual rights and liberties. I make
no apologies for the positions I have taken. If I win, it will be icing on the
cake.

Sincerely,

Franklin Perez (Libertarian)

If your not winning elections, it could be that your platform is not meeting
the needs and desires of the public. You know, the people that vote!
