If Elected New York Governor, Sam Sloan promises a massive release of Prisoners
The United States has by far the largest percentage of its population in jail of any country in the world. It is impossible to determine how many of them are guilty of anything, not only because the courts are incompetent and corrupt but mainly because 97% of all prisoners are in jail on plea deals. A plea deal goes like this: You are arrested. The prosecutor makes the following offer. If you plead guilty you will get three years. If you refuse to plead and are found guilty you will get 15 years to life. Naturally, every rational person when offered that deal takes the three year deal, even if he is completely not guilty. If elected, Sam Sloan promises to release on parole almost everybody serving time for non-violent drug offenses and almost anybody serving time for victim-less crimes. It is estimated that between 10% to 20% of all prisoners in New York State fall into these categories. (Some estimates are as high as 50%.) It is estimated that 40% of all prisoners in jail were born in other countries. If elected Governor, Sam Sloan will give all these people a free trip home. They will be so happy to be back where they came from, Of course, many will come back quickly, but we will stand ready to resume their free room and board here when they come back. Already there is an objection that emptying the jails as Sam Sloan plans to do will put our up-state prison guards who work in our upstate prisons where almost all New York State Prisons are located out of work. Sam Sloan will solve this problem by buying prisoners from other states. A little known fact is that states often transfer their prisoners to other states to reduce overcrowding. The other states will pay New York State to take some of their prisoners so that our prison guards can keep their jobs, even as Sam Sloan empties the jails.
