*League of Women Voters to sponsor Candidates' Forum on July 5*

The League of Women Voters Kerrville Area (LWVKA) will sponsor a
candidates' forum on Monday, July 5 at the Cailloux Theatre Auditorium,
910 Main Street, in Kerrville.

Donna Snow Robinson, President of the LWVKA said that all candidates for
the contested races for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney
General have been invited to participate. "We are still awaiting
responses from some candidates", she said. "The full list of
participants will be made public as soon as all responses have been
received."

The forum will begin at 7:00 p.m. with the gubernatorial
candidates, followed by the candidates for the other contested
races. The forum is free and open to the public. The Cailloux
Foundation has provided a generous grant to underwrite the costs
of the event. It will be broadcast live on KVHC-TV and will be re-
broadcast later. Television stations in Texas will be able to
obtain direct feed from the broadcast for airing in other local areas.

A member of the LWVKA will moderate the forum. Written questions will be
taken from the audience. Questions should be addressed to all candidates
for a particular race, not to an individual. Members of the League will
screen questions to assure as many concerns are addressed as possible in
the time allowed.

"This election is extremely important," Robinson noted. "Texans face
significant issues this fall, including concerns about statewide
economic development, water rights, education, and immigration." "It is
timely," she continued, "on this July 4th weekend when we celebrate our
independence and the many freedoms we enjoy as American citizens, that
this event underscores one of those freedoms -- the right to vote. We
encourage everyone in the Kerrville area to attend, or to watch the
televised forum, and, as always, we encourage people to vote. It matters!"
