Dear Members of the Press and Public: My name is Franklin Perez, and I'm running in year 2010 for the Florida State House of Representatives (District 33) as a Libertarian. Below are the final election results for the August 24, 2010 House District 33 Libertarian Party Primary Election: 1) Franklin Perez: 49 votes (72%) 2) Ellen Paul: 19 votes (27%) Thanks to all the House District 33 Libertarians that voted for me! And to those that did not vote for me, I hope in the future to win over both your hearts and your minds! I consider it an honor and a privilege to be the Libertarian standard bearer in the upcoming House District 33 General Election in November 2010. I would like to thank the following individuals that have helped me: 1) Number 1 Volunteer: James Coakley - He has been doing campaign volunteer work for me since the first time I ran for State House back in 2006. 2) Honorable Mention: Mark Thompson - He has helped me on several occasions to man some of my campaign display tables. I put forth MAXIMUM effort and RESOURCES in reaching out to ALL the House District 33 Libertarians. I sent out a total of SIX mailers to ALL the House District 33 Libertarians. I made phone calls TWICE to ALL the House District 33 Libertarians in which I had their phone numbers. I specifically just reached out and walked House District 33 reaching out to ONLY the Libertarians once it became obvious that I would be in a Primary. I had the chance to speak with MANY of the House District 33 Libertarians, and the response was ALL the same: None of these Libertarians received ANYTHING from my opponent. Essentially, the Ellen Paul camp did NOTHING to reach out to the House District 33 Libertarians to EARN their vote. Not even a single mailer. As explained in the http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SemCountyLibs/message/4355 and http://www.seminolechronicle.com/vnews/display.v/ART/2010/02/10/4b7340776bc01?in_archive=1 hyperlinks, disingenuous motives existed for my opponent to run against me. This was made clear in the mailers I sent out, and I thank VERY MUCH the House District 33 Libertarians that voted for me in realizing this. In some ways, this was a pyrrhic victory because the resources that I used to get out the vote to a group of registered Libertarians to vote in a Libertarian Party primary race that they were not use to voting was like squeezing blood from a turnip. In many ways, this was wasted resources that I could have used to reach out to non-Libertarian voters! In other ways, this was a SWEET victory because despite my opponent receiving the following contributions: (a) $1400 given by the Libertarian Seminole County Affiliate, (b) $500 from Larry Lawver, who is part of the Libertarian Seminole County Affiliate Leadership (c) $74 from Mike Barr, who is part of the Libertarian Seminole County Affiliate Leadership (d) $145.46 from Sean Concannon, Chairman of the Libertarian Seminole County Affiliate, I was STILL able to PULL OFF a victory and put the Libertarian Seminole County Affiliate to shame and humiliation! Again... A BIG and WARM THANKS to all the House District 33 Libertarians that voted for me! And to those that did not vote for me, I hope in the future to win over both your hearts and your minds!
